Tour Guide To Machu Picchu

Inca Trail Classic – By Ronald Troncoso

My name is Ronald Troncoso, a proud local guide from the heart of the Andes. I was born and raised in a small Quechua-speaking community, where my parents taught me the native language of the Incas. Although I later learned Spanish at school, my roots have always stayed strong thanks to the culture and traditions passed down by my family.

I speak three languages – Quechua, Spanish, and English – with Quechua being the one closest to my heart. Today, I mostly speak Spanish with the younger generation, but I always carry my native language and identity with pride.

My journey hasn’t been easy. I left my community in search of better opportunities in the city, and despite many challenges, I never gave up on my education. I studied English for 5 years and worked hard to become a licensed national tour guide. Now, I have the honor of sharing my heritage with the world.

Over the years, I’ve guided more than 1,000 travelers to Machu Picchu, along the sacred Inca Trail and other hidden gems of the Andes. As a local guide, my mission is not only to lead treks but also to help travelers connect with the culture, history, and spirit of these ancient lands.

Join me on an unforgettable adventure through the trails of my ancestors. Walk with a local. Learn from a descendant of the Incas. Experience Peru the authentic way.

Social Project In The Community

Join Us in Creating Real Change — Water for the Andes

At Inca Trail Classic, we believe that tourism should not only connect people with beautiful landscapes and ancient cultures, but also with real-world challenges that local communities face. One of the most urgent issues in the Andes today is water scarcity.

In many highland villages, families are struggling due to a lack of clean and reliable water sources. Climate change has brought longer dry seasons, fewer rains, and devastating consequences — crops are failing, plants aren’t growing, and wildfires are more common than ever. The land is suffering, and the people with it.

That’s why we’ve launched a Water for the Andes Initiative, where $3 from every traveler who hikes with us is donated to local projects that clean irrigation canals, maintain traditional water systems, and build rainwater harvesting solutions.

This isn’t just a donation — it’s a partnership. By choosing to work with us, your agency is directly supporting a cause that brings long-term sustainability to our communities. Together, we can help preserve life in the mountains — for today and for future generations.

Water is life. The world is changing. Let’s be the change that brings hope.
